You’ve all seen websites using diagonal stripes for a while now. You only have to look at designmeltdown to see he has 3 pages dedicated to this style, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Looking at the many more CSS design galleries, you will come across this over and over again.

How long will they be around for before designers move onto something else? Rounded corners are another style that came in with all the “Web 2.0″ hype, along with gradients etc.

Do we design using techniques that are popular at the time just to “fit in” with the current “fashion”? I say yes. People see these styles all over the place and want a “piece of the action” on their websites.
