It has been reported recently that email traffic volume is set to double within the next few months if the recent growth rate in spam messages continues, according to a warning issued recently by email management specialist Email Systems.

Email Systems said the rate of growth in spam messages surged midway through 2006, leading to a total email traffic growth of between 25 and 35 percent each month since July.

Email Systems has attributed the rise in junk email to a change in tactics by the spammers. Instead of sending single emails to thousands of recipients, they are sending emails to smaller groups and then subtly changing the content to avoid detection.
