Google’s changes in Adsense policy will upset webmasters

Industry 3 comments

It was reported in December last year that Google would be changing their policy on Adsense ads having images next to them. But another policy change has come about that will upset many webmasters.

The change is made to the Competitive Ads & Services section of their policy. Now, if you run any other ad that resembles an Adsense ad (same colours etc) anywhere on your website is against their terms! Not just on the same page, anywhere on the whole website.

This will be a massive upset for webmasters that rotate ads from different publishers (ie Yahoo, TextLinkAds etc) and use the same link colours to blend them into the website.

For us webmasters over the pond, we can’t get Yahoo ads because they are limited to US residents, and I tend to only use Adsense as my main ads but a lot of websites that I come across will need to be updated straight away!

How will this affect you and your website(s)? Will this be a problem for you?

There’s no doubt it will be inconvenient but it is something we all must deal with. Thanks

Yep, luckily for me I don’t have anything to change!

It seems Google has been pretty busy the last couple of months updating their policies. I just hope all bloggers take notice and alter their blogs accordingly.
    Thanks
