One of the things I noticed when using my mac is that there is no “print screen” key like on a pc keyboard.
No fear, to create a screenshot of your desktop, simply hold the apple key + shift and press the number 3. A screenshot image will be created and saved straight to your desktop in png format!

or if you want cross hairs command shift 4 and you will see cross hairs to copy only what you want.

Hi christab, cool. I didn’t know you could do that. That’s excellent! I’ll be using that one instead of copying the whole screen in future.

[...] is no “print screen” key, or hash (#) key. For a print screen on a Mac you have to press the Apple key + Shift + 3. Or as a nice reader pointed out to me in the comments, [...]
